Be Aware of Scammers!

scam alertJust a reminder about scams, email, mail, phone, text…. Please remember that scammers are sneaky and often use false identity, urgency, and pressure to get someone to respond. Recently a EEFCU staff member received an “Important” email from Social Security reporting her Social Security was being “investigated”. It came to her personal email but was addressed to “Dear Citizen”. She was to call the attached number immediately. Swift action was required.  Of course, this is fraudulent. Please remember to never respond unless you are confident of the source. If asked to call a specific number, instead look up the number of the business/department you are being asked to call. Tell them the situation and have them put you in touch with the correct person. Same with emails, mail, or text. Always do the research first.
