Why join
For one thing, we just might be the friendliest place you’ve ever done business. We take pride in ensuring fast, personal service. And we strive to offer the best rates we can on savings and loans.
You’ll never get a robot when you call on the phone. And we’re always here to talk in person about any financial questions or concerns. Our goal is simple: We want to provide personalized financial services that are easy, effective and help you keep control of your financial life.
Who can join
Our membership includes anyone that lives, works (or regularly conducts business in), worships, or attends school in, and businesses and other legal entities located in Lane County Oregon. In addition, family members of EEFCU members, regardless of location, are welcome to join.
Serving our Members
The EEFCU has been serving the employees and contract workers of Guard Publishing Company, along with their families since 1954. At that time, we were known as the Register-Guard Federal Credit Union (RGFCU). In 2010, we changed from a single-sponsor Credit Union to what is called a “multiple common bond charter”. This allowed us to add other groups of individuals that have a common bond.
In 2017, McKenzie Valley Credit Union merged with the RGFCU and broadened our field of membership. In 2019, due to our largely changing field of membership, we changed our name to the Emerald Empire Federal Credit Union.
September 2024, the EEFCU received its approval to once again change our membership charter to a Community Charter. This provides us with the opportunity to provide our services to anyone, as mentioned above, in Lane County, Oregon.
While we now are able to serve a broader range of our community, we want to acknowledge and thank those who we have proudly served (and continue to serve), that have helped make the EEFCU the thriving Credit Union that it is today;
