It is with great sadness…

Kaye's PictureIt is with great sadness the EEFCU would like to acknowledge the passing of our prior CEO, Kaye Johnston. Kaye passed away peacefully in her sleep, Thursday, September 8th at the age of 89.  Kaye became the CEO of the then Register-Guard Federal Credit Union in July of 1977 and served the members tirelessly for 26 years until her retirement in 2003. During her time as CEO, the Credit Union grew not only in membership, but in services. She oversaw the move of the Credit Union to its High Street location in 1983, as well as the move to our current Beltline Road location in 1998. Kaye believed strongly in the Credit Union spirit of “People Helping People” and strived to make our Credit Union a place where members were not just a number, but instead, part of a family.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to her family, friends, and members who worked with Kaye over the years. No memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, and staying with Kaye’s commitment to “People helping People”, her love of the arts and her love of reading, memorial contributions can be sent to one of the following charities;

Sponsors: Assisting people after incarceration in their efforts to be productive, law-abiding, and contributing members of our community – information and donation link at sponsorsinc.org

United Way Bookfest: Increasing literacy for children in Lane County- information and donation link at unitedwaylane.org/bookfest

Eugene Symphony Guild: A volunteer organization supporting the Eugene Symphony – information and donation link at eugenesymphonyguild.org

Donations can also be made at the EEFCU and will be distributed to the above charities in Kaye’s honor.
